Forget about using external tools, iframes, HTML codes, or cumbersome embedding on your website. All you need to do is upload a pre-prepared PDF file to the module, provide a title and a brief description of the edition, and you're ready to go!
With the E-editions module in CMS 4media, you'll enable website visitors to easily, quickly, and enjoyably read the latest newspaper edition online - without leaving your website or dealing with any annoying pop-up windows.
You can display the added magazine editions in a dedicated widget, which you can easily place, for example, on the homepage of your website, alongside the news. See the screenshot below for an example prepared for the GoFredericksburg local news website.

Users can use the arrows to scroll through pages and zoom in to read smaller text with a double-click of the left mouse button (or double-tap on a smartphone screen). The widget also includes a button that allows users to go to the E-editions subpage and read them in a larger window.

Adding an E-edition
To add a web edition of your newspaper or magazine, log in to the CMS 4media dashboard. From the main menu, select the E-edition module. At the top, above the list of editions (which will be empty if you haven't added any e-editions yet), click the plus button in a circle. This will open the wizard for adding a new e-edition to your website.

Name - what you enter in this field will be the title of the edition, for example, News4media #1 2023.
Description - the content that will appear below the edition, such as a brief description of what readers will find inside or contact information for the editorial team or an advertisement offer for the next edition, etc.
Active - by sliding the slider to the right (highlighted in blue), you activate the visibility of the added edition on your website. Only active e-editions can be displayed in the widget.
Manage Paywall / Manage Registration Wall - the E-editions module is connected to the Paywall module. Using these buttons, you can access Paywall settings and subscription plans. You can decide whether the newly added newspaper, monthly magazine, or periodical should be available only to subscribers or accessible to all readers of your website without restrictions.
PDF File - by clicking the "Choose File" button, you can upload a PDF file (i.e., your newspaper) from your device's disk.
Main photo - here, you can upload an image/graphics (e.g., the cover of the edition) that will be displayed as a thumbnail on your website. Remember to fill in the alternative text for the image - it will strengthen your SEO!
E-edition Subpage
The e-editions subpage is automatically created after uploading a PDF file. It has a unique URL address that you can copy from the browser's address bar and share on social media or send to your subscribers via a newsletter.
When users visit this URL, they will see your e-newspaper embedded in a special large widget. It includes additional menu options, where readers can:
- see how many pages the newspaper has and which page they are currently on,
- scroll forward/backward with arrows,
- download the entire issue, only the displayed page, or a snippet (i.e., a screenshot) to their device,
- share - display a link for sharing, HTML code for embedding on their own website, and buttons for sharing on social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, or LinkedIn,
- enable/disable the display of thumbnails with previews of the next or previous pages,
- zoom in/zoom out on the current page,
- enable/disable scrolling through pages using the mouse scroll wheel,
- enable/disable full-width display of the edition.

When you have added your first e-edition, the CMS system will create a dedicated subpage for all editions - /e-editions, which displays the published e-magazines in tiles.

Managing the List of E-editions
All e-editions added to the website are listed in the E-editions module after logging in to the CMS 4media admin panel. Here, you can check the titles of added editions, the date of addition, and the number of views for the subpage containing the edition. You can edit the details of an edition at any time by clicking the "Edit" button or move a specific edition to the trash by clicking the red trash can icon.
If you want a particular edition or several of them to no longer be accessible to website readers but don't want to delete them permanently, you can use the bulk actions option to change the status from "Active" to "Inactive" (red dot in the Status column).

Importing Content from the Newspaper as Separate Articles on the Website
An interesting option available in the E-editions module is the XML export to articles - it allows for the automatic addition of articles based on uploaded XML files in .zip format.

This option saves you time, as you don't have to rewrite articles that you've already published in your printed newspaper. All you need to do is prepare a digital copy of it in XML format, upload it through the E-editions module, and the CMS 4media system will automatically recognize the content, sort it into suggested articles, which you can assign to categories and edit the content before publication. It will also create a folder in the multimedia gallery where imported images from the file will be stored.
This way, you can also edit the uploaded file at any time and make changes to the content or replace images as needed.
