The day started with the Radio: Now and Next conference organized by the Local Radio Alliance. It was our chance to meet and talk to the people who run community radio stations across the UK. It was an invaluable experience for us to be a part of it.
The evening belonged to the stations which were nominated for the Community Radio Awards. Among several categories, one was very special to us, as we had a privilege to present the award to its winners: the Best RSL or Digital Station of the Year was Radio Wanno. It is an extraordinary project of prison radio introduced in the HMP Wandsworth which aims successfully at reducing re-offending through a training programme providing qualifications and key life skills and programmes made by its participants which are broadcast internally in the prison.
